There is so much military history connected to Jack County.
Fort Richardson and it's museum/Intepretive Center document the end of the Civil War and the Indian Wars in Jack County.
Many members of the famous Lost Battalion were mustered from Jack County.
(there is a memorial at Fort Richardson and a room at the
Jack County Museum honoring these men)
There are many, many military markers from all wars at the local cemeteries.

For more information about the Lost Battalion visit the Wise County Heritage Museum in Decatur. They have an extensive collection of books and memorabilia from the Lost Battalion members.
